GRADE VI TO VIII

 

Language I : English
Language II : Hindi /Marathi
Compulsory Subjects : Mathematics, Social Sciences, General science.
Internal Assessments : Physical and Health Education, Art, Computer Science, Dance, Music, Robotics, Vocational Training, Coding.

The academic year is divided into two terms. Evaluation of the child’s progress is done on the basis of continuous assessments. Progress is discussed during the PTM.

EKLAVYA: (VI-VII)

The ideology of this programme is to equip the students with skills that would make them self-dependent and self-disciplined learners. Here, learning is not confined to the text but goes way beyond, aiming to make learning a joyful experience. Each child’s potential is given a
chance to flow. The strength of the program lies in its flexibility, integrated approach and learning through collaboration.
SCHOLASTIC AREA OF ASSESSMENT :
English, Hindi, Marathi/Sanskrit, Science, Math and Social Science subjects are assessed at the end of each term and graded using 5 point grading scale (A-E).
CO-SCHOLASTIC AREA OF ASSESSMENT :
Work, Art, Health and Physical education would be graded on the basis of a three point grading scale for grade VI to VIII (A to C).
CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES :
There are a host of activities designed to nurture and develop all facets of a child’s personality. e.g. dance, music etc.
MUSIC :
Music is the soul of the universe and pours life into everything. Our Maestros familiarise our students with both Indian and Western music.
DANCE :
Dance is an expression of grace and elegance. Our expert faculty trains students to perform various forms of dance like Contemporary, Bollywood, Zumba, Hip Hop and Indian Classical Dance.
ART & CRAFT :
Students’ imagination, impression, expression and creation come to life in the colorful art and craft class.
EXTERNAL EXAM :
External exams like SOF, Hindi Rashtrabhasha, Scholarship, Homi Bhabha, etc are conducted in the school from class I onwards.
CODING :
At Shantiniketan we create future programmers, coders & developers through our coding programme where students learn to make websites, apps & games.
N.C.C :
With a motive to encourage more students to opt for career in armed forces and aslo expose them to various activities that will develop in them a sense of discipline, responsibility and sensitize them towards social issues.
ROBOTICS :
Robotics has been introduced in the curriculum to build a scientific temperament along with logical and analytical skills.
COMPETITIVE LEVEL SWIMMING :
The school is equipped with a well designed, swimming pool and a N.I.S. trained and qualified swimming coach. These resources enable us to coach our students for competitive level swimming.
STUDENT COUNSELOR :
Contemporary students face challenges both at home and in school. The assistance of a counselor helps the students combat many personal as well as peer pressure issues. The school also provides an in house counselor for the students to help them in this context.
READING PROGRAMME :
A ‘ Learning to Read and Reading to Learn’ program with the objective to make students proficient readers who can read with speed, correct pronunciation & intonation, improve on their listening, vocabulary & writing skills as a corollary to their reading, comprehend the text and engage in analyzing & discussing the reading material critically & creatively is part of the academic curriculum.
COMPETITIONS :
The school organizes various house wise competitions throughout the year. These include elocution, extempore, handwriting, essay writing, show and tell, paper presentation, recitation and many more. The school also participates in various interschool competitions. To mention a few, quiz competition, regional level CBSE science exhibition, etc.
VOCATIONAL TRAINING / ATAL TINKERING LAB :
Students are given hands-on experience to do work needed in a specific job (pottery, box making, basic electric maintenance etc.) through the Atal Tinkering Lab. A separate period is allotted in the time table for this activity. A resourceful person is invited to share his knowledge & guide students.
